DANDA #047 — ClaimSafe: AI Agents to End Ransomware Insurance Claim Chaos

Ransomware is the digital pandemic no one can ignore. Every day, small and midsize businesses are hit: systems locked, data stolen, operations halted. Most have cyber insurance, but the moment they file a claim, they’re plunged into a bureaucratic abyss—weeks of back-and-forth, incomprehensible forms, and slow responses. By the time insurers pay out, the business impact is devastating. I’m here to end that chaos.

The problem

In 2025, ransomware attacks cost the global economy over $20 billion, and over 66% of businesses hit had cyber insurance. Yet, the average ransomware insurance claim takes 45 to 90 days to resolve, with many extending past 120 days. 71% of small and midsize businesses report delays or denials due to missing documentation, communication breakdowns, or the inability to prove incident details. Meanwhile, recovery costs stack up: payroll, lost revenue, and regulatory fines. As a result, 60% of SMBs that suffer a major cyber attack close within 6 months—often citing claims friction as the final blow.

The idea: ClaimSafe

ClaimSafe is an AI-powered agent platform that automates and orchestrates every step of the ransomware insurance claim process for small and mid-sized businesses. From incident intake, evidence gathering, and real-time documentation, to insurer communications, form completion, and payout tracking, ClaimSafe’s autonomous agents seamlessly guide users, eliminate paperwork hell, and proactively close info gaps before they trigger delays or denials. The result: weeks shaved off claim timelines, faster recovery, and business survival.

Architecture

Inputs Incident Logs, Emails, Policies Ingestion Parse, Normalize Memory/Graph Evidence Vault, Timeline DB Agent Orchestrator Claims, Docs, Comms Human Gate Review, E-Sign Action Layer Submit, Track, Notify

The flow: Raw inputs—incident logs, emails, insurance policy docs—are uploaded or ingested. The Ingestion Layer parses and normalizes all data formats. Evidence and communications are stored in the Memory/Graph vault, constructing a dynamic incident timeline. The Agent Orchestrator triggers and manages specialized AI agents: claim creation, document completion, insurer communication, and progress tracking. At anchor decision points, the Human Gate prompts for user review, approval, or e-signature. The Action Layer submits documents, tracks status, and proactively notifies all parties, slashing errors and delays.

Build plan (90 days)

Wedge: Focus on managed service providers (MSPs) supporting 500–5000 seat companies who handle dozens of ransomware claims annually. Provide ClaimSafe as a white-label tool, integrating with their existing ticketing and IR systems.
Stack: 1) Secure multi-tenant SaaS with encrypted evidence vault; 2) LLM-powered document agent; 3) Claims orchestration agent; 4) Secure e-sign and notification gateway; 5) Prebuilt integrations for top 10 US cyber insurers’ portals.
Pricing: Per-incident fee ($550–$1200), plus annual SaaS license per MSP ($8k–$27k based on volume).

Why now

The ransomware crisis is exploding, and both attackers and insurers are only getting more sophisticated. SMBs and their MSPs are desperate for speed and certainty—while rising premiums mean insurers are demanding perfect evidence and compliance. LLMs and agentic automation are finally capable of closing the claims gap, eliminating paperwork, and making the unmanageable, manageable. ClaimSafe is the agent that defends the defenders.
